In a first step to combat discrimination, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced that it will pay equal match fees for both men and women in India.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said in a series of tweets that the Indian Cricket Board is implementing a fair remuneration policy for its contracted women players. In a tweet, Shah said that “I am pleased to announce BCCI’s first step to address discrimination. We have a fair pay policy in place for our contracted BCCI Women cricketers. The match fee for both men and women will be the same as us. move into a new era of gender equality in Indian cricket,”.

The BCCI is the richest cricket governing body in the world and is part of the Big Three of international cricket.
