Indian men and women cricketers to get equal pay says BCCI

In a first step to combat discrimination, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced that it will pay equal match fees for both men and women in India.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said in a series of tweets that the Indian Cricket Board is implementing a fair remuneration policy for its contracted women players. In a tweet, Shah said that “I am pleased to announce BCCI’s first step to address discrimination. We have a fair pay policy in place for our contracted BCCI Women cricketers. The match fee for both men and women will be the same as us. move into a new era of gender equality in Indian cricket,”.

International female cricketers

1. In early 2022, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) reached an agreement with the country’s players’ association to allow women cricketers to earn as much as the main players.
2. Cricket Australia (CA) is also working to eliminate gender discrimination.

Asian Women’s Cup 2022

1. India defeated Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the final match of Women’s Asia Cup 2022 to win their seventh title.
2. India comfortably chased down 66 runs and scored 71/2 in 8.3 overs.
3. Smriti Mandhana made 51 runs off 25 balls not out, hitting six fours and three sixes.
4. Harmanpreet Kaur also remained unbeaten at the other end at No.11.
5. Inoka Ranaweera (1/17) and Kavisha Dilhari (1/17) were the wickets for Sri Lanka but they did not have enough runs to defend.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is India’s cricket governing body. The body is based at the Cricket Center at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The BCCI is the richest cricket governing body in the world and is part of the Big Three of international cricket.
